I am not very far into it yet, but am enjoying it. The figurative language is great!

As for "Harry Potter" what was she thinking reading it to them?! Forget the whole test thing! I don't care if they were accelerated, not an appropriate book for first graders. Well that's at least my opinion! I am so sorry that she had such a horrible first grade reading experience but so glad that she recovered! ;0)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05857225124904230357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6466505282089310760.post-5067976314769963792013-08-01T19:52:15.451-06:002013-08-01T19:52:15.451-06:00That's great!! I know I had teachers do this but my dad read to me a lot and that is what really stuck with me. Glad that kids who aren't read to at home will have someone to fill that void!
AliAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6466505282089310760.post-59158647381827294102013-08-01T15:44:07.520-06:002013-08-01T15:44:07.520-06:00Great book choice! Although as a parent of special needs child who does not speak (but signs fluently), I thought it was a bit unrealistic.

Strry from my older daughter....In first grade, her accelerated classroom teacher read "Harry Potter" to the class and she HATED it. Wasn't listening. On the last day, the teacher announced there was a test the next day on it. She FREAKED out. There was no test. Not sure what the teacher was thinking when she threatened that. 12 years later, she's a huge Harry Potter fan (and a HUGE reader), but she still remembers that.

Happy reading aloud!!Kerith Stullhttp://brielleandme.net/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6466505282089310760.post-16012912088045390582013-08-01T13:56:35.296-06:002013-08-01T13:56:35.296-06:00Good girl, Sarah.
